Never a dull moment

I was watching the kids play outside today. Kadyn and Liam were having a ball playing keep away with our wiener dog Brutus. Good to see that they enjoy playing with him these days, as Jeff and I don't play much with him anymore. At one point, Kadyn exclaimed, "Mama, we found a snake!" "Stay away guys. Let me come see. Don't touch it." I walked over and it was a false alarm. Their discovery turned out to be just as cool and a lot less worrisome for me....an earth worm. Kadyn asked if she could touch it, me being the clean freak I am told her no. In retrospect I should have just let her be a kid and touch the slimy thing. Next time, I'll encourage it. What harm could it be.

A short while after that Kadyn found a bunch of dark rocks and started to bury them saying, "I'm making poop mama!" Hmmm....don't get it, but sure, whatever Kadyn. Never a dull moment.

Happy birthday Kadyn!

We spent Kadyn's birthday in Garden City. It was a nice time with family and a few friends. When asked what her favorite part was, her reply, "Jumping on the bed with my cousins." Little stinker. Why do we bother? Well anyways, the castle cake was a challenge, and I am not a baker. However, for my first theme cake, I thought it turned out pretty good. The theme, of course, was princess. So the kids played a kiss the frog game, we read The Princess and the Pea story and played a game pertaining to that with a ball under pillows. All in all, it was very fun, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Happy 3rd birthday little one.

Memorable moments

This morning:

Setting the stage: Shutting my eyes, trying to fall back alseep, child in bed with me watching cartoons.

Gentle kiss on the back of my neck. "I love you mommy."

"That's so nice Kadyn."

"You're welcome."

There's love in the air.

A couple nights ago:

Jeff: "Kadyn had to go to the bathroom while we were at walmart."
Kadyn: "I had to go pee at Walmart!"
Me: "So I heard"
Kadyn: looking puzzled "You heard me pee at Walmart?"
Me: Laughing on the inside "Well not exactly"

OK here is some of what I've been up to lately. The flowered diaper fabric I got at the salvation army (old bed sheet). We're on a budget so it had to be cheap. The inside of that is pink checks which I did buy at Joannes. The green dipe I call my watermelon dipe because it has pink on the inside too. They do require covers because they aren't waterproof. Thus the pic of the pink soaker I made which looks like fleece shorts and also a pink plain cover which is a little too bulky for my tastes actually. The other covers are kind of boyish prints but came with part of a package I bought when first starting out and I couldn't choose the print on those. They are made of PUL fabric which is waterproof. I use the PUL when I go out so I know there will be no leaks. I use the ones I made at home because they do breath better so it prevents diaper rash. I haven't had any problems with the PUL yet, but there's always a first time. The diaper bag was my pride and joy because it's sooooo girly. I messed up a lot on that one and had to rip a lot of stitches and start over but I think it turned out pretty good. Because it doesn't zip closed I made little bags that compliment the fabric to hold items so that it doesn't look messy when it's exposed. The little bags also organize me better so I can just grab a different bag for whatever the need. I have a diapering bag, a misc bag, a snack bag, and a toy bag. I still have a lot on my agenda to sew. I'll try to post them as I finish them.

Hee Hee!

I got to hear Brennan's first real chuckle last night. It was SOOOOOO cute! Kadyn was playing peekaboo with her and she let out a couple chuckles. I don't think Kadyn got how cool it was until I started making a big deal of it. Then, of course, she went overboard with the peekaboos and Brennan got bored quickly until mommy oinked like a pig and got one more chuckle. Oh....sigh! I love this stage.

On hold

I don't think I've blogged this yet so here goes. My diet has been on hold now for a week and will probably be that way until I stop nursing. After two weeks of dieting I lost 7.5 pounds. So I am basically down to where I was prepregnancy. I would still like to loose an additional 13 pounds, but found that my milk supply starting decreasing drastically when I started dieting. That made for a fussy baby. So in the interest of nourishing my daughter, I'm on hold. My clothes feel better now that the 7.5 pounds is gone, but they are still more snug than I would like for them to be. It's been a week now that I've been off my diet and I still haven't gained any of the weight back so hopefully I can keep it that way until I'm done nursing and can dive deep back into my diet. In the meantime, perhaps I'll splurge on a new pair of pants to get me through the next 9 months until I wean. I'm proud that I was able to stick to it for two weeks and saw a significant loss in that amount of time. At least I know when the time comes, I can do it again and hopefully meet my goal.

How do we make money?

Whenever Kadyn asks why Daddy goes to work I reply that he goes to work to make money. Two nights ago Jeff asked her how we make money. Her response...."Geico."

February pics

OK here's the scoop on the photos:

The blue and white dress I made for 4th of July. Yes, those are panties on her head. It was really funny until she did it in front of a guest. I hate that she's picking her nose in one of those photos but Brennan was smiling so good I had to post. Maybe that's why she's smiling. Kadyn made a train track out of walmart sacks in another photo, didn't ride too smoothly but was fun. And Kadyn is showing off her "hawdwok" (aka mohawk) in the other. This became a new obsession of hers when she saw me do it once and told me I looked like a "boy....chicken"

In other news, I'm off my diet. I lost 7.5 pounds and had to stop. My milk starting decreasing, Brennan started fussing, and then she stopped pooping....for over a week! So I'm back to my normal eating habits with a much happier baby until today. I think she might have an ear infection.

Anyhoo...toodles! Hope you like the pics.
